Hi crash613

Did you power off completely?

If so, did you always eject the drive before powering off?

If you don't eject that can cause problems!

Re: media Library problems

I have never ejected a drive in any of the WD boxes I have. Especially with the firmwares we have had over the years, most of the time you were ripping out the power cable at the back to switch the bloody things off. :-)

Never had any problems.

Re: media Library problems

Hi mattpeds

Have you tried doing these in this order

1.   Turn media library off.

2.   Get content info set to manual only.

3.   Clear Media Library.

4.   Delete the .wd directory on your usb drive.

5.   Reset the device.

6.   Turn back on and wait til it's all booted up.

7.   Turn Media Library back on.

I had a media library that would not finish compiling. I left it 3 days.

Hi wdtvhub,

Not really had any problems myself either.... There have been several occasions where I have had no option but to pull the power cord. And touch wood. No problems so far. But there are some that have... so was just a thought.

Of course now that I have said about not having problems. :smileywink:

I am not the OP..  i was just wondering.. as it seems i have been shutting down all the way and it takes a while to boot back up.  I am using a Harmony One remote, and that shuts it down all the way.  I just found a workaround online and am going to give it a try.  Hopefully that will put it in sleep mode so other devices can still access the server.

this really is a learning process

Re: media Library problems

Hi,

I certainly don't shut down all the way anymore. Seems to take forever to get to a usable state. :smileywink:

Think we're all still learning.

Hope it works for you!

Hi

Is there any way of telling how far the hub is when compiling the media library? Or is there a faster way of doing it? I have seen a program called wdtv hubgen will this do it?

I have set my hub to compile the media library which it has been doing for nearly 2 hours the hub wont pick up any commands from the remote control but the white light is flashing on the front of the hub

Any ideas??

Cheers

Matt

If you go to My Media Library and pick one of the views you should be able to see the folders and files appear. It make take a while to appear if you have a lot of files. The response of the Hub to the remote may be slow as well whilst the Media Library update is running. If you can see some of the files, but the compile seems to be "stuck" it may have found a file that is having problems reading.

To test if the Media Library is working correctly just add one small folder and see if the Media Library compiles that quickly. If you are using the latest firmware the Media Library Manager will let you add and update individual folders. It is a big improvement in my opinion. You can add a few folders, let that compile, then add some more.

Hope this is useful.

No i have just put everything onto a large USB hard drive I have about 3-4tb of audio and video and have just connected it - when I had data shared across hub and a different usb hd never had this problem...

normally only takes 5-10 mins...

have downloaded the latest firmware too....    ....was that a bad idea?

everything will be left in standby when not in use. Never powered down or as rarely as possible!

Cheers

If the Media Library is compiling okay with the other hard disk, but has a problem with the large hard disk, there could be a compatibility problem. What are the two USB disks you are using?
