spooky playlists

I created new playlists to match my needs but old playlists that i deleted still show up. They show up on my network attached players such as my iPhone, iPod and Marantz NR 1602 network player. It is quite confusing because only a few of the old lists show up.

I tried to delete my complete music lybrary and to copy it back from my computer. But still the old playlists are there. I use a Mac and when I try to locate the old playlists in the finder there is nothing there. The new ones I can find but the old ones appear to be deleted. Still they show up in my network players. On the WDTV-hub they also show as empty files.

I guess by deleting them they are now so-called 'invisible files' but how do I track them and shats more delete them?

Re: spooky playlists

Did you delete them with the WD OS or across the network with the MAC?  If the Mac I'd say that the Hub isn't recognizing the deletion.  If so try with the OS via the options button and see if that works.

Just a guess.

Re: spooky playlists

Oh I have to correct:

They DO NOT SHOW UP in the WDTV playlists. They seem to be deleted but they still DO SHOW up on my network connected devices.

I deleted the media lybrary, tried to switch it off and deleted it, tried to delete all the files on the hub but nothing seems to help.

Re: spooky playlists

Could something other than the Hub be serving them up?  Try temporarily disconnecting the Hub from the network and check the other devices.  If you still see the playlists on the remote devices then something else has mirrored them and is serving them up (MAC/iTunes would be my first guess) and hasn't figured out that there're gone.

Re: spooky playlists

Thnx for the suggestion. But I tried of course to disconnect the hub and then the playlist folder appears empty. So it is definetely the HUB 'serving' the faulthy lists. My Mac is not conncted to the hub. I only use the hub as 'slave' to copy files from my mac to.

Re: spooky playlists

So I finally solved this irritating problem.

It appears that the twonky server was not deleting the files from its database after deleting the original files from the hub. Even drastic solutions as re-format my WDTV Live hubs drive did not solve the problem. I spent around 30 hours to copy back all my material and still the spooky playlists showed up. Restarting, resetting etc. did not solve anything.

Finally i went to the webinterface to check the twonky server and I dd a rebuild of the database. That was all it took.

My networkplayer (Marantz NR1602) gets it's information from the twonky server on the HUB. but it is not clear to me why even a reformat of the disc did not clear that database. Apparently it is somehow protected.

Re: spooky playlists

:smileyfrustrated: strange: "launch twonky" just opens another window with the same content.. can't use the twonky server...
