Re: v1.0.7 released: WDTVHubGen - Looks up Movies, TV Shows and creates XML for the Hu6

Did you choose to turn on recursive search (in the options tab, set it to true) and it will search down a directory structure.

Jeff,

Thank you for version 1.0.7! I installed it today and tested it against the folder where I have my V TV series episodes.  The result was that it did not load any files when I pressed "Get Shows".  The folder and files are as follows:

V (2009)

   Season 1

 V (2009) - 1x01.avi

        V (2009) - 1x02.avi

        .....

   Season 2

        V (2009) - 2x01.avi

        .....

Any idea why it did not load any files? In thetvdb.com the show is listed just like the name of my folder and the prefix of the files: V (2009).  Hope you can let me know what I am doing wrong.  Thanks.

Regards,

Bart

I see what happened... yes, when you batch, it automatically chooses the first one it returns. let me think of a way to do that on bathc, might be a pop up with choices and an "apply to all" kind of idea.

thanks!

That sounds great Jeff.  Keep up the good work!!

Re: v1.0.7 released: WDTVHubGen - Looks up Movies, TV Shows and creates XML for the Hu6

Jeff, I have another sort of tricky one for you, and I am not sure what to do about this one.  I downloaded a new show called The Killing and last night they episode 1 and 2 on.  So when the file came in the uploader put both episodes together.

The.Killing.S01E01-E02.PROPER.720p.HDTV.x264-ORENJI.mkv

Now WDTVHubGen processed it and returned the info for the first episode only.  Presumedly that is because they are separate entries on the TVDB.

The Killing [01x01] Monday, November 3.mkv

Thanks

Jeff,

Recursive checking is turned on in options.  Any other thoughts?  Please let me know.  Thanks.

Re: v1.0.7 released: WDTVHubGen - Looks up Movies, TV Shows and creates XML for the Hu6

[ Edited ]

Would it be possible to add the option, as some people may not want this, to be able to add a period (.) to the front of the folder art?

ie

someshow.mkv

.someshow.jpg

someshow.xml

The reason that I ask is that I also have the WDTV Live and when you are using network shares it shows all of the folder art as well as the mkv files.  This is a real pain in the **bleep**.

I have tested this out and from what I can tell it has no effect on the hub at all.

Thanks

Re: v1.0.7 released: WDTVHubGen - Looks up Movies, TV Shows and creates XML for the Hu6

Hi @NoSlack913 :

SRT have to be in the same folder. A word (usually a language code) can be added after a period, between the actual filename and the .SRT (or .SUB, .SUB / .IDX, .SSA, SMI -- through SRT is most common) extension, as in the example belox:

- episode's filename is : "Criminal Minds S06E20 - Hanley Wat.avi".

- examle allowed SRT files: "Criminal Minds S06E20 - Hanley Wat.EN.srt", "Criminal Minds S06E20 - Hanley Wat.French.srt", "Criminal Minds S06E20 - Hanley Wat.srt", "Criminal Minds S06E20 - Hanley Wat.English.SRT"... but also e.g. "Criminal Minds S06E20 - Hanley Wat.Very bad subtitle.srt" would work.

I guess you get the idea. When .SUB/.IDX (bitmapped subs) are used, both files (i.e. the .SUB and the corresponding .IDX) must have exactly the same name, except for the extension of course. Text-based .SUB, .SSA and .SMI work just like .SRT files.

This feature is fully supported by the WDC Live TV Hub, and most modern players; also by e.g. DirectVobSub for use in Windows with Media Player and MediaCenter.

Usually, the device or app is smart enough to display only the text after the filename and before the extension; that way, a menu containing a choice of subtitles would only display e.g. "EN, French, Very bad subtitle"... in the examples above.

Some metadata scraping programs, like MetaBrowser, automatically rename the subtitle file(s) when they're correctly identified as "matching" a movie or episode file that it needs to rename. In other words, whenever they rename a video file, they rename all files (e.g. subs, but also thumbnails, posters, ...) that have a corresponding filename.

The trick with subs, is to take into account that something can be added after the filename and before the extension. That has to be preserved.

Note on subs: I know subtitles are often overlooked by native English speakers, but most people in non-English countries (including myself) like having subs, either because they don't understand anything without them, or just to avoid missing certain words (i.e. myself, I always use English subs whenever I can find them).

Note on "why do I use this program if I have metabrowser ?" : because the WDC can't do anything with the metadata produced by metabrowser 1.0. (= the free version). I've actually asked (somewhere else in this forum) a question on whether there's a tool to "convert" the metadata from Metabrowser into something the WDC Live Hub would understand....
