A Better Audio Player Interface

I am REALLY loving my WD hub, but I am not very happy with how it handles audio files....

I have a large collection of music... and a large collection of audio books.

I'd love it if the Hub would do a <Random Play All> from a selected folder, with the option of playing into subfolders as well...

As it stands now, if I select all, chapters of my audio books get played in with music... Until this gets fixed, or improved I have abandoned playing my music collection via my WD Hub.

Can we get a better audio player interface?  Pretty please with sugar on it???

I know this is not what you are asking, but heres a thought, until they "maybe" come up with a fix.

As it stands you have two options, either

1. Move your Audiobook Mp3s onto a seperate drive from your Music, lets say the Internal drive, so if you do select all from a location, that location will not have all mp3 music and mp3 audiobooks.

2.. If you have all your Audiobooks in an Audiobook folder...rename it to .Audiobooks and it will not scan it.

As I said not the fix you want, but may help you out till they *cough, rush to fix it :smileywink:

My fast and dirty fix so far is to not use my hub to play music at all.... I plug the external drive that has my MP3 collection on it, into my laptop, and run my laptop into my stereo via the headphone jack... That way I can use software like JetAudio to play my music.

But thanks for the suggestion eh

*cough* rush to fix it... LOL

really??? that works???? you mean, if i want to avoid that maybe miserable live contents or whatever get into search results i just have to add a dot in front of  the folder name... (for example: .liverecordings) and it won't be scanned but folders still can be seen???

that would help me a lot!!!

Yeah it just creates a hidden folder to the Hub, or any WDTV device.

okay, thanx. so i never can play tracks from the hidden folder because i can't see it?

You can see it from a PC, but the Hub does not see it, so yeah it wont show up after a media scan.

hmm, ok! but that won't help me, because i still want to be able to play them from my hub. but thanx for your infos.

I agree with Bessa... That's not really much of a solution eh....

Com'on WD!    You can do it!  ;-)

WD needs to add a much better Audio/Video/photo cataloguing system.  It is a surprise it is not there already.  Also, it should add a better recognition of metadata, e.g.. Track number for audio albums, Date picture taken for photo, etc. and ability to filter/sort using them.

Am I the only user who doesn't care about meta-data or ablum pictures and all that???

I just want to be able to <random play all> my music collection without having my audio book collection play
