hi,

how can i use my playbook to play music in WD my book live with out internet?

by on ‎06-22-2011 06:17 AM

well this is a request section and I have requested someone to make an app to control the hub from a BB or PB

To share music or movies between PB and WDTV hub you need a network. Internet is not needed but the router is definately needed.

Hub connected to router through ethernet, PB connected to router through wifi.

Why would you have a PB without internet? It only connects using wifi. Need wifi to use it to its full potential

@feicnca

The currently released PlayBook only has 3 ways to communicate outside itself. Your "My Book Live" would need to support these connection methods for an app to work.

1. USB: needs to be directly connected with compatible USB cable between the 2

2. WiFi: Both need to be connected to the same network

3. BlueTooth: My Book Live would also need BlueTooth and they need to be paired

Only if you have 1 of these 3 options would an app be possible. Since I dont know what a My Book Live is I dont even know if an app can be made even if you meet these requirements

Here is how to stream video from your MyBookLive to your Blackberry Playbook as a local network client.  No installation required!

Note:  Tested with non-HD AVI files only.

1)  Open up the Blackberry Playbook Browser.

2)  Go to TwonkyMedia Browser Page:

type in http://<mybook live ip address>:9000/webbrowse

eg.  my ip was set to 192.168.0.88

so for me the url is be http://192.168.0.88:9000/webbrowse

3)  Prove to yourself that it works:

Click on the Videos link and pick something to play.  You will see that you can expand to full screen and jump to any point in the video.

4)  Navigate To The Start Page You Want:

After playing a video, click BACK to either the TwonkyMedia Start Page or drill down to where you want to start.  For example, if you always want to access Videos, then Bookmark the Videos, which in my case is http://192.168.0.88:9000/webbrowse/O0$3

5)  Save your Favorite to look like an App Icon:

Click the Start/plus icon in the top right corner of the browser screen.  Select [add to Home Screen].  Name it MyBookLive.  Then go find the icon and drag it Media.

Let me know if it works for you.

Didn't work for me. I can log into the WDTV Live SMP webpage from my Playbook but not using the ":9000/webbrowse" portion. This does nothing but give me an error message. I can't access any connected device files from the WDTV Live SMP. I don't have any links that say videos or anything.

Android Market has an app. now i wish they would either design one for BlackBerry Playbook or atleast port their droid app over

APK: http://androiddev.orkitra.com/download/apps/?appid=7492664442414686912&download=com.osdmod.remote_v0...

How to port to Playbook: https://bdsc.webapps.blackberry.com/android/bpaa/

For music and audio there is a PlayBook app named TopAudioPlayer available. You can get it from www.topaudioplayer.com It works with My Book Live Single ( Twonky 5.x.x ).
