Improve network transfer speeds

Current file transfer speeds are poor. If the lack of the cpu resources is the issue here, is it possible to add ability to boot into new mode dedicated ONLY for transferring files, e.g. "file transfer mode". In this mode we could use ALL cpu and hardware resources only for file transfers. All we need here is SAMBA share without any overhead like media streaming, GUI etc.

Please consider this idea! I believe ALL users would be thrilled with improved transfer speeds.

Unfortunately, this is at the best this platform can do. This is not a traditional NAS.

Hello,

I have a WD TV Live Hub, and what bothers me the most is that i have to constantly reboot it for even update the new files or change the network server user...

Imagine you want every person to access diferent fileshares in your NAS... you have your files, your mom have her files and your son have its own network share.

You need to access your network share, but the last person to use the Hub was your son so.... Reboot, select Network Server and insert the new user and password and wait for it to refresh again the database...

THIS IS WACK!

If i could have profiles (to store and load the files database) or even a fast switch user option would be the smart thing todo.

Why it doesnt exists?

Can we get it??

Please consider this as a huge aditional to this "almost" perfect system.

Thanks for your input. User profile is a feature which we have been thinking for awhile. We'll let you know once we have the good news.

Auto-sense network connection

When using the Hub normally, I just have it connected through WiFi. But as I transfer movies to it, I change to ethernet connection to transfer it faster.

However, it's a bit a pain in the **bleep** to go through the menu to the settings and choose "Ethernet" as connection every time I transfer, and when it's done, I'm going back and choosing "WiFi" and so on. This is every time I just transfer a movie.

Computers (or at least my Macbook Pro - doesn't know about Windows) automatically uses the most "powerful" connection available. When I'm on WiFi on my Macbook Pro, and plugs in an ethernet cable, it automatically uses that ethernet connection instead of the WiFi. When I remove the ethernet cable, it goes back using WiFi.

This SHOULD be possible to do with the Hub, as it's just a pain to manually change that settings everytime I transfer a movie.

Fix, please!

Thanks for your input. We find this use case pretty uncommon so we do not plan to address this.

NFS support

Please add NFS Support to the Hub.

I have often heard the nfs file system would improve network transfer-speed.

I would like to access the internal storage via nfs, so I can transfer recorded ts-streams from my dbox2 to the live hub.
