MLB.tv freezes up - updated

Which Firmware?
I am using most current firmware, 3.03.16. I actually just did a roll back, reset and reinstall of 3.03.16 and issue persists. The last update of firmware was specifically for MLB.tv, so previous firmware doesn't apply here as the update from 3.03.13 to 3.03.16 was for issues related to MLB.tv.

Did this happen with previous firmware?
I rolled back again and same issue persists with 3.03.13 as with 3.03.16.

What happened?
While using the MLB.tv app under services menu it will lock/freeze up in the middle of streaming a game. I first get the blue spinning arrow and then the unit becomes unresponsive. This is then folowed by the black screen with orange spiinning arrow.

What were you doing?
I was using the MLB.tv app under services menu watching a Phillies game. Nothing else, just streaming the game with my MLB.tv membership.

Does this happen every time?
Yes, this happens every game at this point multiple times. Yesterday I tried watching a game and it froze up 4 times before the 3rd inning.

What hardware and media were you using?
I am using a WD TV Live Hub connected via ethernet cable to my D-Link Dir-825 router. It's then connected to my Pionner VSX-23TXH AVR via HDMI which is then connected to my Pionner KURO Pro 101-FD TV. All of my media devices run through the same setup with no issue.
The media was a streaming Phillies baseball game via the MLB.tv app under the services menu.

Does power cycling the unit solve this?
No. The only way to unfreeze the unit after a lock/freeze up is to power cycle it. I've tried to power cycle it before starting a game and it will still freeze as well.

Does resetting to factory defaults solve this?
No, I tried that previously with no success.

Have you tried this on other devices?
I own a ROKU XS and AppleTV and tried watching the same game today and went to the same spot in game where it kept freezing (Top of the ninth inning, 0-2 count, no outs, runner on first) and with both devices I had no issue. I have now watched multiple games on the AppleTv that froze on the Live Hub with no issue.

I can't make it through a game without it locking up at least once. I emailed MLB.tv about the issue and their troubleshooting has lead me to reach out to WD based on information provided, as issue only persists on this device. I had posted something about this issue in the general comments a few weeks back to see if I was alone with the issue.

thanks.

Dimegs79--- You're not alone.  I've got the same problem and it's definitly a problem with WD.  I'm lucky if I can get through a half inning on either my WDTV Live or my WDTV Live Hub but I have a Roku upstairs and I don't have a problem at all.  I packed my Live Hub away since it doesn't work half the time but my Live has Firmware 1.08.17 and I just checked and it says it's the current version.

Like you, I contacted MLB and they told me to contact WD, which I did via phone support, and I was told that I had a "network issue" which I can assure you I don't have since my Roku works.

I'm sure WD won't address this issue though because if I remember correctly, the last time they had problems with a streaming service on these devices, instead of addressing it, they removed the service from the device...ie: Blockbuster & Mediafly.

Has there been any progress with this issue?

I was away from my device for about a month and sadly have returned to still find the same issue persists even with the latest firmware update.

thanks

Having issues again today with the service, it keeps freezing in the same spot of the game. Any update in this? Thanks.

Any progress? Having issues once again with player locking up and having to power cycled. Even just a progress update would be great. Thanks

Issues persisting. Have had to power cycle at least once every game this week.

Confirmed its a WD issue and not MLB.tv as I can watch games on Mac or other streaming device with no issues.

Thanks

Same here -- up to version 1.08 the stream would just buffer, buffer, buffer, then frereze; since version 1.09 I get no buffering issues, instead I get several crash/reboots per game.  I have the device connected to a 20MB Roadrunner landline, i.e., no way my network is causing the issue -- especially since the WD is outright crashing now.
