Re: BLACK MAMBA V1.5 (Theme Update April 27th 2012)

DeVicious,

Thanks for your response.  As for the folder icons I will need to look into that today after work.  Also, I followed instructions very carefully.  Generated movie sheets based on the settings in the .pdf.  When I said etc. I was not naming that as a file name but "Etcetera."  To be more specific, for each movie I have a .jpeg, .xml, .mkv, and .mkv_sheet.  And I tried all of the different views particullary the gallery view but it only displayed thumbnails of the movies on the bottome of the screen, no sheet... I will look more into it today after work.  Until then, any more ideas?

Thanks for the response

Hi,

Just a quick question to save me having to page back through dozens of posts...  Were there any changes to the ThumbGen sheets in 1.4 final or 1.5?  I'm using 1.4 preview and want to know if I have to regenerate all my sheets.

Thanks!

you need to be more precise, there has been changes to some templates and additions to the TV templates. If the name of the sheet is identical you don't need to update. Compare the name of the individual sheets you have in use. Movie3 and TV3 are the most recent ones.

Yeah, it's Movie3 and TV3 that I'm using. Great, thanks!

Re: BLACK MAMBA V1.5 (Theme Update April 27th 2012)

[ Edited ]

Hi, I'm new to the SMP and am trying out this theme.  I've downloaded v1.5 and followed the guide and have already set up Thumbgen (i.e. using Movies3 template and have set up Options).  I'm trying it out first w/ a few movies and 1 w/ a series of movies (ex. Harry Potter 1 to 8).

1.  I know it was mentioned in the guide that the folder structure should have all files in one folder, but is there a way for moviesheets to work with each film in their respective folders?  I just want all files of a movie grouped together.

Can't moviesheets work if I have the ff: folder structure?

Movies --> folder
— Avatar 1080p DTS --> folder
----- Avatar 1080p DTS.mkv
----- Avatar 1080p DTS.jpg, etc.
— Harry Potter 1-7  --> folder

—--- Harry Potter 1 --> folder
-------- Harry Potter 1.mkv
-------- Harry Potter 1.jpg, etc.

—--- Harry Potter 2  --> folder
-------- Harry Potter 2.mkv
-------- Harry Potter 2.jpg, etc.

-- Concerts --> folder
---- David Foster and Friends --> folder
------ David Foster and Friends --> folder
--------- David Foster and Friends.mkv
--------- David Foster and Friends.jpg, etc.
------ David Foster and Friends – Hitman Returns --> folder
--------- David Foster and Friends – Hitman Returns.mkv
--------- David Foster and Friends – Hitman Returns.jpg, etc.

.... OR should they be all in the same folder, as mentioned in the guide:
-- Avatar 1080p DTS.mkv
-- Avatar 1080p DTS.jpg, etc.
-- Harry Potter 1.mkv
-- Harry Potter 1.jpg, etc.

-- Harry Potter 2.mkv
-- Harry Potter 2.jpg, etc.

What's a sample, ideal grouping of files that would work best w/ the theme?

Perhaps this is related too but in page 9 of the guide, there was a highlight in red that says 'ENABLE IF EACH MOVIE IS IN IT'S OWN FOLDER'.  What does this mean?

2.  With the recommended grouping, how do I set up having thumbnails display for higher level folders (i.e. Concerts, Action, etc)?  Are there predefined groups, and if so, how do I  set it up? I don't see any explanation in the guide.  Thumbnail .jpg in each folder?  Where do I get them?

Thanks!

Re: BLACK MAMBA V1.5 (Theme Update April 27th 2012)

I see a little delay when moving from one movie to the another while displaying the Moviesheet in the gallery view. Is that normal? Please advice. What can I do so that the moviesheets show up quickly.

DeVicious,

Yea, I went back through all the settings per .pdf manual and everything checked out.  I reinstalled Black Mamba and still the same thing.  The theme is on there and I can navigate, select, see the icons that thumbgen has created but the moviesheet will not show and I cant get the folder icons to work.  What the heck am I missing here?

Re: BLACK MAMBA V1.5 (Theme Update April 27th 2012)

TheDoctor6308,

I had the same issue however I found out that the moviesheets file were created with .nfo extension instead of .xml. Please check that in the "Input/Output Mappings" of the ThumbGen tool.

That fixed it for me and I can see the moviesheet in the Gallery View.

Moviesheets will only work for files not for folders.

The ideal grouping is the one that you prefer.

I have folders for categories (action, concerts....) and all corresponding files inside the folder.

Franchise Movies such as Harry Potter or Fast and Furious are the exception, it makes sense to create a folder per franchise and dump all  the corresponding files in it.

A thumbnail for a folder = folder.jpg

1. If you think it is the 'nfo' file extension problem, try renaming it to an XML extension. The file contents are identical

2. The folder layout for Movies is really one of personal preference. Either approach will work - and indeed I have one instance of it being Mixed i.e.

-->Movies

       Comedy

             Monty Python

                 Life of Brian.mkv

                 Holy Grail.mkv

                 Meaning of Life.mkv

            Borat.mkv

            The Rutles.mkv

Indeed I started out with each Movie in its own folder - as I used to use Media Browser. However when I switched to WDTV and experienced the extra 'folder navigation' that such an arrangement forces on you, I adopted the flatter structure that most people on WDC favour.

The main benefit of having multiple movies in a folder is that when browsing in Gallery View it only takes a single left/right click to show the synopsis of the next film. If you keep movies in their own folder, all you will have when browsing is a thumbnail of the movie - but to see the moviesheet you will have to enter the folder...and then 'backup' if its not the one you want.

One area where you will need to keep the 'deep' folder structure is TV series. Thumbgen is particularly sensitive to this. If you don't keep strictly to 'TV Series | Season # | Epsiodes.mkv' then the search to TheTVDB will likely fail. Often IMDB will yield results but you won't see art work and there won't be Episode information. Also Black Mamba relies upon the folder hierarchy as it will create a 'folder.jpg' in the upper folder in the Series Thumb mode. If you do not have the 'Season' directory this 'folder.jpg' will likely overwrite a file of the same under TV Series - which may be a genre Thumb.

nothing can't be done at this point, it has technical reasons caused by the way WD is triggering the sheets, I'll take 3 seconds. Navigating itself will improve with growing experience automatically. Despite the movie sheet delay there are ways to navigate with an uninterrupted flow. This can't be explained you will have to figure it out.

delete your .wd_tv/thumbs folder and reboot your device, that should solve the folder icon problem

Regarding the movie sheets not showing, you did NOT do everything as explained in the manual because it would work if you did. :smileyhappy: Believe me I had this discussion 60+ times in this thread already and when you look at the 2nd screenshot in page 10 this is where 9/10 people did oversee the drop down box "export using WDT Live Hub Format" in the line "Movie Info Export"
