you can do this in private, if I ever make changes or people start using a different template me or them will have the troubles. It's an inproper solution.

Re: BLACK MAMBA V1.5 (Theme Update April 27th 2012)

Great theme, am working on setting everything up.

I am following your guide to the letter, right up to the section in Thumbgen after selecting the movie and clicking on Semi automatic, it pops up with the list of names, I click the one I want, it processes, says done, then nothing, the sheet editor does not appear.

If I go to the HD all the files are there I just cant edit the different parts of the movie sheet.

I am a total noob with all this though I do know the difference between a file and a folder :-)

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

Try "Manual" Mode in Thumbgen instead.

Re: BLACK MAMBA V1.5 (Theme Update April 27th 2012)

I have seen similar behaviour with Thumbgen. From time to time it will decide to open the Sheet editor window BEHIND the main control window...and unless you're very lucky there's nothing you can do to switch to it i.e. 'CTRL-TAB' often will not work.

In manual mode this will maifest itself as though the program has locked up. In semi-automatic mode it will carry on (after the various timeouts) and generate appropriate files but without the chance to intervene.

When I've hit this problem, I usually use the Task Control Panel to 'kill' the man task and then start again. I've a dual screen setup (may or may not be relevant) and I find that restarting Thumbgen from a different screen often helps.

If this helped, please consider giving Kudos, thank you...

Re: BLACK MAMBA V1.5 (Theme Update April 27th 2012)

Thanks Bodders yes thats whats been happening.

I just tried again in manual mode using Windows 7(only had it for 2 weeks), and noticed a second window appear on the task bar behind the Thumbgen one, I moused over it and it allowed me to open the Moviesheet edit window.

Thumbgen shows it to be processing until you finish in  the Moviesheet editor.

Again thanks for the help.

Re: BLACK MAMBA V1.5 (Theme Update April 27th 2012)

Hi DeVicious,

finally found some time to look into my little project again to adapt BlackMamba's screens to my kid's requests (being more colorful, less 'black').

Surfaced with a new question i didn't find a answer to myself: Currently i'm using "gallery view" for movies/videos (all movies/videos organized into a genre folder structure). Would it be at all possible to create two 'slightly' different versions of the gallery view - would want the first screen (upon clicking the "movies/videos" button from the home screen) actually be similar to the "browse videos" screen instead (i.e. more genres/folders on one page), whereas all "following" screens (clicking on one of the genres/folders, showing the actual movies/videos within the selected genre/folder) should remain exactly like the current gallery view (i.e. showing the movies/videos moviesheet)? I'd for sure be able to figure out what to code into a respective new XML file for the first screen myself, however i'm lost if that principle would in theory be possible at all (or not possible due to the FW reading and intepreting those files), and how to embed such a new view xml into the overal theme 'framework' (being used when entering movies from the homescreen or when going back from the genre/folder video gallery views and so forth).

Thanks a lot,

Frank

Re: BLACK MAMBA V1.5 (Theme Update April 27th 2012)

Hi DeVicious,

still also haven't given up yet fully on using the media library, even almost got it to work to my needs:

Organized all movies/videos into a genre oriented folder structure. Using media library and filter set to genre. In order to display genre thumbnails (first screen after entering "Movies" from home screen), i've created "folder.jpg" for all my folders, this works as long as all movies/videos have file names being alphabetically "behind" the word "folder" (easily achievable by e.g. adding a prefix "M_" or similar to all movie filenames). However, then the (alphabetically) first movie within this genre folder won't show its movie thumb, instead for this movie again the "folder.jpg" thumb is displayed in the second screen (i.e. upon clicking the respective genre and being transferred accordingly by the device to the next screen). One of those Media Library deficiencies. So this cannot be circumvented resp. my approach wont suffice unless we get the media library fixed accordingly...

Hence another idea i was thinking about i wanted to ask you for your advice. Do you perhaps know any WDTV variable (like @@actor or similar, however referring somehow to the genre or the folder in this first screen with filter set to genre or folder), which one could exploit in the gallery view xml file and have a dedicated genre thumb image displayed? Of course i'd then need to upload those additional genre thumbs with the theme itself to the WDTV, but this could solve my personal issue here....?

Thanks a lot again,
Frank

Hello Frank

the links cannot be altered from the home screen, what you see is what you get, sorry

Image tags are only for predefined place holders, there are no actor images in the firmware you could do some sort of stuff with Thumbgen designer but that's not a very good solution.

Who knows maybe the media library will get an upgrade soon

Please advice. What can I do so that the moviesheets show up quickly.

nothing can't be done at this point, it has technical reasons caused by the way WD is triggering the sheets, I'll take 3 seconds. Navigating itself will improve with growing experience automatically. Despite the movie sheet delay there are ways to navigate with an uninterrupted flow. This can't be explained you will have to figure it out.

Hi DeVicious.

Thank you very much for this awesome theme and for the work u have put into it.

Any possibility you can pinpoint any "hints" on where to start looking as to navigate smoothly i.e. minimal delays?

Thanks again
