Firmware rollback acceptable fix?

Using the newest firmware I can only get audio via stereo output. I want DD,DTS, etc..the only workaround was to rollback to 1.04. I am worried I am missing out on functionality and new features of new firmware. it seems like this audio problem happens to alot of people....why can't WD fix this problem?

This issue has been reported, but the OP states it only works rolling back to Firmware 1.03.10: http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-Streaming-Issue/No-Dolby-Digital-Through-Optical-Port/idi-p/3...
