I didnt need to reset my device it just started working,no more error 502

Yay - okay it's been *ages* getting fixed and we're none the wiser as to the root cause but *boy* am I glad it's fixed. And that, I guess, is the important thing. Thank you WD Support, just er, fix the reboot on video playback issue now yeah ;-) ?

Netflix recently encountered an issue with how their infrastructure recognizes Western Digital devices in the UK and Ireland, causing a "502 Error" for some members attempting to stream.

 

We believe the 502 error is now resolved, but please reach out to Netflix Customer Service via http://netflix.com/contactus if you experience any further issues with streaming on your Western Digital device.
