Re: WD does not see 'Windows Shares' Win 7 Prof

riprazor, have you tried turning on the computer browser service on your windows 7 box where your shares are located? I turned the browser service on my computer and everything started working. Typically if your computer is part of a domain then the browser service is not turned on by default. It really is used in a workgroup enviornment. The registry setting "IsDomainMaster" doesn't apply except in a domain setting. However "MaintainServerList" does apply in a workgroup. I would suggest turning on the computer browser service on your windows 7 computer with the shares and performing the registry hack "MaintainServerList" set to true to ensure this computer is always the master browser.

Re: WD does not see 'Windows Shares' Win 7 Prof

Just checked, the browser service was running and MaintainServerList was set to Auto.  I changed the setting to True, rebooted, stopped and restarted the browser service.  No change, the shares are still not visible to the WD, but my other two machines continue to see them with no problem.  One other note.  I have a modded Xbox running XBMC.  The idea was to replace the xbox with the WD.  The xbox cannot not see the network shares either via discover, HOWEVER, because the XBMC allows you to enter the full name of a share, regardless of whether or not the discovery process sees it, it has no issue connecting to the shares when the path is specified.

Re: WD does not see 'Windows Shares' Win 7 Prof

Success!  And yes, I am an idiot!  Apparently, after moving and settting up my network, I failed to turn off the DHCP server on my wireless router.  The WD box was pulling its IP address from the second router which was actually only supposed to be an AP.  Once I turned of the DHCP server and the WD box got its IP from the corrrect router, everything was fine.  Thanks again to everyone who provided suggestions.
