First time on here. I recently bought a WDTV live and used it to replace my Iomega Screenplay which was working fine btw. The Iomega was connected to my home LAN with a 2tb drive attached by usb. My other media players around the house could see the usb drive also. I connected the WDTV in the same way and it worked first time. I was then offered a firmware update which I accepted (1.09.10). Since the update I have had problems. When i enter the files, movies, photos, muisic menus it shows the name of the usb drive but cannot see any of the files in it. When i try to chose it as the source it says there is no content. I have plugged it direct to my PC and back into the Iomega, AC Ryan media players and it works fine. To fix I have tried the following -

1. restart

2. reset to factory default

3. unplugged the usb and replugged

4. power cycled the WDTV

5. deleted the WD files that was left on the usb dirve

All failed, does anyone have any ideas?

Update is that I did a hard reset using the pinhole underneath. Well it now sees the USB drive begins building the library and then freezes. I am going to call the helpline and if its not resolved I will send it back. Its a real shame as I waited several months before buying it. Will be a popcorn for me if I do have to buy another.

Ok I got it working....kind of. The USB drive only works when i switch off media library. Does anyone have any tips on why media library would cause this kind of fatal crashing? I will post elsewhere about the services not working properly. It makes the WD adverts about just plugging in and it working a joke.

Re: New Release - Firmware Version 1.09.10 for WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (6/5/12)

I recently acquired a gen. 3 wdtv live and updated the firmware. Is there any way to find out which firmware ver. my player came with originally, since this Launchpad screwup thingy has ruined flingo.

Is it me or is everyone else insane?

Thanks

[ Edited ]
So I have been reading the 1.07.15 thread about all the problems people had with the geolocalization implementation and how WD did not keep up with the new countries Netflix is/was available in. I now come to this thread, and jumped to the change log for all versions from 1.07.15 to this one, and only found in the description that you fixed the geoloc for PR and CR? Does that mean that you STILL have not fixed it for Latin America countries, despite Netflix being available there for almost A FULL YEAR now? I'd really like someone to clarify, as I am purchasing a device this week to take back with me to Latin America, and if this isn't solved, that device will definitely be an Apple TV...

Sorry...  but I doubt it.  Once they figure out what happened, they'll fix it, and then they still need to do all the testing.  It may take a bit, before we see any action on this.

you could try go to settings / network settings / clear login info

then try again.. i believe the default login should then be there and read username: anonymous password: blank no letters or numbers . maybe worth a try to start with :smileyhappy:

mkv resumes with wrong audio track

Hi!

When resuming a movie (mkv) the last used audio track isn't used. Instead the first audio track nof the file is used.

That also happens, when you rewind a mkv to the start.
