Just got the latest firmware 1.07.15.
I am pissed off. MP4 -videos are still stuttering after few seconds (with wire or wireless, no matter) and sound fades off. No difference with earlier firmware.
Facebook videos and photos cannot be seen. You can only have this text: Browse error. Content not available. So you have done nothing with this annoying bug either.
Please first correct the bad bugs of your firmware before you add any new feature.
My faith to your talent and and politics are fadeing fast. I am afraid that this will be the last WD product which I have.

Greetings.
I cant verify your Problems with MP4-Files. I dont have any atm. Checked Facebook. Everythings fine. Movies and Photos are ok to me. Maybe you should do a factory reset after upgrade?
Regards
Volker

Of course I have done factory reset.
Just solved the Facebook problem. It seems that you cannot use HTTPS -connections with Facebook and WD HD. When I changed Facebook connections to HTTP, I was able to see all videos and photos with WD HD.
So please make WD HD able to use HTTPS -connections with Facebook!

Yes, mine too..
unfortunately the MP4 issues still exist even on the new firmware (v1.07) :-(
no more freezing then unable to play other files (crashes), but heavily stuttering after a few second (20 to 40 second) with no sound.. :-(
at least tested playing on network shared MP4's videos (wired/wireless).. gosh i hope WD fix the firmware soon, i dont think i could wait for another month waiting.. :-(

I can only reproduce your problem if I keep my NAS very, very busy doing other things on its single disc drive... but then it's hardly WDs fault. Is there something else going on on your media source like any cron jobs or so?

I rolled back to 1.06.04, becauase I had all kinds of problems with the new, it said wrong password or username, would not recognize my network, would freeze all MKV Files, once I did get it going, if I powered down had to go throught the whole process again !!........Not Happy.....staying with what works, and thats 1.06.04.......M.

I'm on upgraded firmware with both devices and see an improvement with MP4's. It still feels like input lag when dealing with them (ffwd etc).
-Asus RT-N56U / Wireless N only wifi with wpa2 and mac filtering.
-Nas nic is realtek onboard gigabit. Ubuntu 11.10 server/win7 ulty (onboard nics realtek or wireless n pcie cards) on rest of the comps
WD is labeled same workgroup as the rest and was given a static IP and dns. Asus router picks both up just fine as do all machines while powered on. Both devices have no issues connecting to network shares on my gaming rig and my NAS running ubuntu. This is all via wifi with both units powered on playing shows simultaneously. Movies on one kids shows on other. The only way I've even stressed them out is by allowing sabnzbd to unpack and repair or use par on about 50-100gb worth of files or larger. I've tried saturating the nas and that works if I turn off QoS.
One of my only gripes are the layout setting and the services. Layout sometimes defaults back after a firmware upgrade or power loss I think. My other annoyance is the fact that I don't use netflix or the myriad of other services as I have the top comcast package with all channels included. I'd really like support for watching gaming streams like SC2 and LoL via own3d and justin/twitch.tv.
My house is over 5k sq ft and the router covers the entire house with strong signal (why I chose it). Centrally located router almost middle of the house in my office. I have a comp in every bedroom via wifi and haven't had issues. Things are different for every one but I'm in an average house with average types of interference and above average usage of network bandwidth.
I've read the complaints on mp4 files and I've run into them off an on especially when the wifi was more g than n. It still doesn't feel as snappy with my home vids which are always mp4 and the inputs seem laggy. This isn't all the time though and I've been quite happy with the box and updates.

What is the name of the router you refer to. I have signal strength issues (1 bar only on my WD) so would be interested to hear about the strong signal router
