An open App platform

Hi,

I'd personally like to see in the services section an "app" platform, much like the roku, where developers can build their own apps and share them with the community, and you can pick whichever you like and have them on an apps dashboard.  It's the way forward.

Just to add, it doesn't necessarily need to be in the services section, it could be on the main screen - it would probably be more conveniant there come to think of it.  The idea is still the same though.

I really hope they let people do this

Check out the HbbTV initiative from the European Broadcast Union (EBU).  This allows you to build all sorts of Apps and platforms on top of a common standard to access IP streaming media.

I couldn't agree more.  If you don't have a way to allow the community at large to develop on your platform, you'll be left behind.  At the time I didn't realize that some providers do allow for it and some don't.  Now that I know you can't write your own plug-in, I'm definitely looking a new direction for future purchases.
