Full Web interface

A complete web interface that allows browsing of the media library as well as controlling the device.

I use my WDTV for steaming music during the day and as such don't want to have a huge TV switched on all day, besides which I'm often not in the same room. The ability to remotely control the unit from a networked computer anywhere in the house would be a massive improvement - I wouldn't need to keep switching the telly on and standing in the front room while I selected the playlists...

At the moment the web control is a lame picture of the physical remote control, but if you can't physically see the connected TV this is pretty useless.

(Would also me nice if a folder with only playlists showed up in the media library or under the music section)

This is what we really need. I'm also using WDTV for listening to a music. I'm often listening it in another room (zone 2 with my amp) and tv isn't there. One really should be able to browse media files without a tv being on. Shouldn't even be hard to implement.

As well as the additions listed above; Would it be at all possible to add the ability to add/remove folders to the Media Library - a Media Library Manager so to speak.

Also being able to resync the Media Library from the Web interface would be extremely handy.

Exactly the same as orginal poster. Hit the nail on the head, I can't see which menu I'm in without the TV which I don't want on for my music - I just click next folder and play in the hope I'm still on the music folders and then end up with whatever's next...

This was possible with my old wd hdtv with custom firmware. it worked wery well at controlling the device from my android tablet. Would really like web interface also.

This would make using the SMP a dream.

Especially when we have large libraries.

If you do this, you can access it from all devices.  Perfect if you have a tablet/iPad, etc!

This should be a priority.

+1 glad I'm not the only one thinking this. Was rather surprised it didn't exist already.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one to have this idea. Such a feature would make the WD TV Live pretty much "THE PERFECT MEDIA PLAYER"! The WD TV Live is an ideal streaming client for music and radio from the internet (TuneIn is really cool!) and smartphones are very quickly establishing themselves as "universal remote control". However it is really non-sense to require the TV set to run just to select music or switch the radio station.

>> I would appreciate to see such a feature being rated pretty high on your product backlog! Thanks.
