I agree- listening to audio books is really awkward when the reader "stops" mid-sentence every 2-3 min.

.. yeah, that could be hard...  but I like the idea.

Gapless playback requires specific hardware capabilities; two streams have to be decoded simultaneously.

Even the first few iPod generations couldn't do gapless play...  it required different CPU capabilities.

Don't know if the Sigma can do two simultaneous decodes.

The first idea to add gapless playback of audio files came up two years ago in March 2010.

Right now, my WD TV live streaming media player, is still not able to play gapless audio files.

This is a really essential feature for the whole audio sector (audio books, live albums, concept albums, classic music, ...) , please add it  - or just tell us, why you are not doing it.

I think it was requested on the first gen WD TV but even here it was added in 2009 and listed as Planned by Scot from WD  (http://wdtv.uservoice.com/forums/17442-general/suggestions/184982-gapless-audio?ref=title

I Agree Steffen_2009 WD really need to address this issue.

The WDTV Live Streaming Media Player is a great product. However gapless playback is is really important to me and many others. It is way more important than many of the bells and whistles that have already been implemented. I see that this feature is planned but please, please, please prioritise it to be implemented soon.

Perhaps if the WDTV staff were forced to listen to their favourite live album through WDTV on indefinite repeat with all those gaps inserted it would get implemented sooner... :-).

The New tvix supports playlist composition (without the need for a PC) and GAPLESS AUdio PLayback.

Come on WD ....

The answer WD had given previously was that that 8653 and 8655/4 didn't support gapless playback.

So, saying that Tvix can do it, when it uses Realtek chips, seems to be somewhat irrelevant.

I honestly don't know if the improvements Sigma has made going from 865x to 867x has changed anything, or whether it's still a hardware limitation of what Sigma deems their "low-cost" chips.
