New Idea

This is really useful. The current 10min is useful too, but if you could make it such that we are able select them from option, that be great.

Ideally, I hope to have two kind of skips at the same time, ie. up and down button for 5min skip/rewind and
the Forward and backward button for 30sec skip/rewind.

Hope it will be seriosly considered. Thanks

Media Library features missing

Hi guys,

Which firmware were you using? Latest

I have a SMP that plays media from my Synology NAS. The Media Library is completely unusable. Using any kind of sorting means scrolling or changing folder takes between 20 - 50 seconds in my experience. I thought the problem might be that there is a 100Mb link between the SMP and the NAS so I setup a 1Gb link between the two and it did not change anything. I do not think there is a resolution for this in the current firmware. The fact that the SMP has to go to the NAS, gather all the folders and files, sort them and filter them every time I change folder is crazy slow. A way around this would be to allow the data to be stored locally. A single db file with all the info about all the files and folders on the nas, as well as all the metadata and art. So I would like to suggest three changes for a future firmware

1. Add option to System -> Media Library. If there is a usb drive connected store all media library info on that. If that drive is disconnected then turn off media library and request new source i.e Network share or Media Server

2. Allow other devices to notify the WDTV Media Library of updates i.e A program like Sick Beard can notify my Synolgy NAS Media Server when it has updated a folder

3. Allow sorting on recently aired for  TV shows and release date for movies, like Plex or XBMC do, in the dashboard instead of just added date.

Next and Previous Buttton Mapping Navigation

When watching videos from a stored device, the Next " >>| " or Previous " |<< "Butttons will either advance or go to a previous title in the folder, rather than advance or go to previous chapter w/in the title; the latter is how a DVD/BD player would function when these buttons are pressed during movie play.   Right now one has to press options and then select Chapters and then select which chapter to go to.  Kinda clunky...

Prefer that these buttons be mapped such that they got to either  the next or previous chapters within a movie (assuming of course that the movie has chapters).

If this is not something that WD wants to change for the masses, then would like for the ability for those of us who use universal remotes to be able to map a command to these keys that allows this to be accomplished.  An example of this is the Audio command which is now a separate command, and was formally buried within the Options menu on the Live and Live +.

Hey, so i have a 1tb iomega hard drive with 2 partitions, one for my time machine, and one for movies. the movies is only 250gb, but i cannot plug the 1tb into the wd tv live directly ( i stream it now) for 1080p movies because it takes too long and every time i go to check on it after a while it has froze and i must unplug the power. i have discovered the reason for this freezing is because the time machine partition is mac os extended journaled, which freezes the smp when i plug it in. the movies one is just mac os extended. can i get the wd tv live to only mount my movies partition? I really cant disable the journaling on the time machine, since it highly recomends to having it there. thanks. Newest firmware.
