Auto-scraped TV show TITLES lead to bad SORTING.

Which Firmware:   All SMP firmwares, and HUB firmware 3.00.28

What exactly happens:

The naming format the HUB and SMP use to TITLE TV shows is:

SeriesName Season X - Y EpisodeName.

If Y is a SINGLE DIGIT (1-9) then they are sorted wrong.  Like this:

Episode 1

Episode 10

Episode 11

...

Episode 19

Episode 2

Episode 20

Episode 21

...

Episode 3

Episode 4....

The EPISODE NUMBER needs to be a TWO-digit number (with a leading zero, if necessary) so that the SMP / HUB sort them properly.

What would be BETTER, though, is if it actually sorted by the EPISODEID in the XML.

For anyone that wants to re-do their existing XML in bulk, read this post for a how-to:

http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-TV-Live-Hub-Firmware/How-does-WD-recognize-TV-Show-Firmware-Version-3...

What are you doing:  Letting the Hub or SMP "Scrape" metadata for TV shows.

What hardware:  This affects both the Live-SMP and the Live Hub the same way.

Does it happen every time:  Yes.

Does it happen with previous firmware:  With the Live-S, yes.  With the Live Hub, doesn't apply since the prior version didn't support this feature.

Power Cycling & Factory Restores have no affect.

This fix should be in the next update approximately mid-April.

Testing is taking longer, so we're looking at a couple of weeks more.

We're looking at mid-May for the fixes.

Still broken, bumping this as this issue should have been dealt with by now.

Come on WD - April, May, June, July......are you now going to add which year you expect to resolve this!

still not fixed in 1.10.13

I agree, still not fixed.

I've been trying the sqlite method described by borndead to fix my TV series episode numbers on my WDTV.

Previously I used a text editor script to edit all the xml files. This worked except that it required a media library reset which in turn wiped out all my "watched" flags and resume points on all my episodes.

I'm wondering, do the database editor changes show up on the WDTV immediately or do I still need to reset the media library?

Not surprised it's still not fixed. I'd never used the media library feature before, and it looked great... until i saw that sorting was broken. It's even worse seeing that it's been broken for almost a year without a fix.

Amazing.

Agreed, this seriously needs to be fixed!  How hard can it be to simply start single digit numbers with a 0?  I have limited coding experience, but I feel like this could be fixed in no time...

Please fix this WD

Personally I've dont a email support feedback complaining about this.

Personally after some emails to and from the support section I got:

and considering WDs lack of action on this issue it'll help make me decide against buying another such product in the future.

WD seem fast at removing email information but not fast at all on fixing basic errors, shame really because this error along with a number of other basic errors that have creeped in has really bought in to question WDs QA as far as I'm concerned.

yep - told two of my mates to avoid this product due to wd's inability to address even the most basic of bugs

could of been such a good product but these bugs make it a DO NOT PURCHASE product.
