This has all the makings of the classic 'It's not us, it's them' merry-go-round.

Here's what the Beeb told me:

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. However, having checked this we are unable to replicate the fault and are unaware of any similar complaints using the same equipment. It is possible that you will need to ensure you have all the necessary updates applied to the device (Firmware etc), which can be obtained from the manufacturer.

Given the other thread has failed to spur WD into action, I am not hopeful that anybody will actually fix this.

Hi castalia

"...unaware of any similar complaints using the same equipment...."  I hope you emailed them back and told them about the many people in this thread alone who are having the same problem.

What's their email address - I'll email them too and see what they say.

I'm getting really fed up with all this farting about by manufacturers etc that it's not their fault.

Thanks

Yes, I did tell them there were numerous complaints .....

The only way to contact BBC about this is via their clunky contact page:

https://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/templates/bbciplayer/emailForms/emailPage

However, the more who complain ,,, the better.
