MLB.TV Extremely Poor Streaming Quality - WD TV Lve

I bought the WD TV Live purely for the purpose of being able to watch MLB.TV on our TV. For the first couple of weeks all was good with the previous firmware (most of the time streaming HD), but since the latest firmware it won't do HD. Most of the time it starts in an "OK" quality, but then shortly after starts to get the loading symbol in the middle of the screen and will reduce itself to an extremely low quality, which is not watchable. It does not return itself to a higher quality after the quality has gone down. Today it even came up with an error saying that I do not have enough bandwidth for the stream. However, once again, by watching on my computer I get HD, and it stays on HD without any issues.

Which Firmware: Latest 1.08.17

What Happened: Will not stream in HD or any watchable quality

What were you doing: Streaming any MLB.TV game

What hardware: WD TV Live

Does it happen evey time: Yes

Does it happen on previous firmware: On occasions, but mostly no

Does power cycling resolve it: No

Does resetting to factory defaults resolve it: No

Have you tired on other devices: Yes, on computer and streaming HD without any issues.

I am having this issue as well today too. Will get about ten seconds of a game before it either freezes on a still frame or gives me the loading symbol. Most of the time I'm unable to get out of it with the back or home button and have to unplug the unit to power cycle it. Frustrating as it worked flawlessly yesterday.

I'm also able to watch it flawlessly in HD on my computer on the same network.

I have exactly the same symptoms and bought the wd-tv live for the same reason.

I can't watch a game without resetting, rebooting etc. etc.

A fix would be really appreciated.  Meanwhile, I'll have to learn to roll back the firmware I guess.

Okay, so a slight update.

I rolled back the firware to the previous version.

It worked well for a day, then the same issues reappeared.

I rebooted the WDTV live and the router and it worked for a while, then the issues reappeared.

I changed the WDTV to a fixed ip address, then turned off the media share function in network settings. After that it seemed to work a bit better.

Does this ring a bell for anyone?

My internet connection is 4mbps, though there is probably a bit of line noise on the connection as we're 6km from the exchange.

Some more info...

Watching a game in replay (i.e. not live but say 6 hours after the game) is almost no fault HD viewing.

Watching a game live (as it's happening) almost always results in poor picture quality and then error messages saying that the bandwidth is not enough.

Any reason for the difference between live and replayed?

Has there been any progress in working out what the issue is?

I've noticed that (a) replaying a game is way better than live games, (b) in the last week (from five days before the All Star game), live games have come good.  Let's hope it stays that way.

Any updates or foreseeable updates about this issue? It's very frustrating.

The latest firmware, 1.10.13 now causes the box to reset randomly without warning. This has happened on several different days, and it has happened multiple times per game.
