Netflix Locks up No Response

I had upgraded to the 1.07.15 firmware but netflix still locks up. I can watch about 1 show and he device becomes unresponsive. I have to do a hard reboot. I tried the 1.07.18 today with the same result. I know that the FAQ did not address this issue with the new firmware but I was hopeful. I did not have this issue with the 1.06 firmware that I had originally. But I am also unable to roll back to this firmware. This issue is annoying as this is one of the main reasons I purchased the device.

I have done a factory reset, removed the hard drive. Tried wired and wireless connections. All other applications on the device work fine. I can stream Netflix with both my computer and my Vizio Blu-Ray plaher without any issue at all. I am connected Through HDMI and Optical Audio. It does the same with the composite connections. This issue needs to be resolved.

Netflix has locked up completely a few times in the past few days. Just stuck unable to exit or power off. Extra annoying without a hard power button, I'm going to have to plug it into it's own power strip with a switch or something for hard reboots.

Are you streaming in Netflix when the device freezes?

Unless this has not been fixed with the current firmware, we will close this issue out due to its age.

I'm getting this issue with my WD TV Live (purchased last week) running the latest firmware 1.09.10.

Netflix is randomly freezing, hanging when loading a film, or just being incredibly slow, for example ... taking over a minute to respond to one keypress on the remote.

The problem with Netflix freezing has not been fixed in the latest update based on my experience.

I am also getting the Netflix "bugs":

I'm using Roadrunner Cable service, and connected via ethernet over power line adaptors.

No issues with laptop and older Roku HD unit.

It ran fine in January with 1.06.4, and I didn't upgrade until 1.09.10 came out.

With 1.09.10, I experienced the intermittent freezing issue while watching Netflix.

During a program, my screen would go black, and I'd get the "No Signal" message from the Samsung HDTV.

The only way to get a response from the WDTV was to power cycle the unit.

This issue occured at least once every 1 or 2 Netflix viewing sessions, and at random times.

The only clue that it was going to occur was some random pixilation in the video stream shortly before the freeze (15 to 20 min.)

I decided to roll back to 1.06.4, and used the rollback version available on your website, but immediatly got the netflix Credentials issue, where every time I go to Netflix, upon either selecting a program, or starting to play a program, Netflix would tell me I was not logged in, or not a member, or that my account had to be reauthorized on this unit.

Last week I decided to use my original 1.06.4 version,  renamed the version file to 2.06.4, and succeeded, but after a week, I had both the credential issue, and another freeze up occur.

Netflix is the only internet service I use, and it really is frustrating that this issue is still under review.

Hello, I am new to the community and wanted to chime in here with this same issue just so the thread doesn't get archived.

Running Firmware 1.10.13 and it hasn't fixed the issue.

Just posted in the New Firmware section.

Updated to 1.10.13 last week, and have had zero issues since.

I've watched several movies, and TV episodes, as well as staring, and stopping the Netflix service, and no problems with crashes, or Credentials.

jb_zeus, have you tried a hard reset?

Ypu may want to reinstall 1.10.13, and after the upgrade completes, do a power cycle.

Thanks recorder! I will try that.

Interestingly Netflicks has worked without serious issue. However Netflicks Kids stalls after one episode and I have to unplug to get it going again.

Here's hoping a hard reset etc. works

I did all the things suggest by recorder (thanks!) and this is what I noticed:

I have my WD HDMI out to the TV and a LaCie external HD USB into the WD. After I reset everything and did a power cycle the WD was Compiling Media for ages. When I went into Netflix during this time it was slow and unresponsive. Since I have turned off the LaCie and just used the WD for netflix it runs perfectly. So running the hard drive and WD with netflix simultaneously reduced the performance of Netflix. Maybe that's what others are doing as I leave my harddrive on all the time the WD is on.

I will see what happens after the WD compiles the media and se if it's the same. I was too impatient to wait last night lol.

jb_zeus:

I'd suggest the Media Library got hosed.

This is a pain, but what I've done in the past is turn off the media library-delete the .wd_tv files on your external drive-start media library, and just add back a small number of files at a time.

If it hangs at any point, it'll then be easier to find the corrupted file, or it just might work like a charm!
