No audio on playback but YouTube etc work??

Status: Resolved

I've be searching and searching with no result for the problem I have.  I have a WDTV Live (WDBGXT0000NBK-AESN with 1.09.10 firmware).  Until yesterday I had no problems at all with playback of video files, either over wireless network or via attached external HDD.  I was playing a .tsi file from my external drive and with only a few minutes of the file left the playback stopped and all I got was the black screen with the arrow going around in circles.  I tried turning off the player and back on again but whenever I tried to play a file I got the same thing, a black screen with the rotating arrow eventually after a while I was able to play the video but got no sound.   I did a hard re-set via the pin hole in the bottom of the unit, the files now playback but I still get no sound, I have tried a power cycle with no result.

I don't believe it's the audio settings (HDMI directly to TV only) as when I got to YouTube or RedBull TV the audio and vido work perfectly.  The same happens with MP3 files, it shows they are playing but there is not sound.  I have tried various audio settings but nothing works, and no the mute button isn't on.

I did the firmware upgrade at least a week before this issue started.

Can anyone help please?

Thanks in advance.

I've managed to sort out the problem, I did a factory reset and the sound is now operational.

Thanks.
