SMP refuses to play 1080p files from the HDD USB 3.0 connected to the rear USB port
Status: Investigating
Which firmware? 1.07.15
What happened? When I'm watching a movie 1080 from rear USB port, the video stops working, it freezes and after 20-30 seconds it unmounts the hard drive with message that says " to remove safely your hard drive". The device is still working, but to make the WD TV recognize HDD again
What were you doing? Playback the 1080p files from the HDD USB 3.0 connected to the rear USB port I have to reboot the tv live and unplug and plug back again the HDD.
Does this happen every time? Yes ,when HDD connected to the rear USB port
What hardware and media were you using? Hardware: WD SMP (WDBGXT0000NBK-EESN, P/N:WDBGXT0000NBK-01), HDD WD 750GB NTFS USB 3.0 (WDBPCK7500ABK-EESN)

I think, this happens with exactly European model SMP revision 01 (P/N: WDBGXT0000NBK-01)
Please specify the SMP model in replies, One of this models: (P/N:WDBHG70000NBK-00, P/N:WDBHG70000NBK-01, P/N:WDBGXT0000NBK-00, P/N:WDBGXT0000NBK-01).

This happens to me ALL THE TIME also. I have a 3 TB Mybook drive connected to the rear usb port. It seems to happen with only certain video files, but it happens frequently- I'd say about 50% of my videos will freeze at some point. To unfreeze the machine, I literally have to unplug the WDTV and unplug the hard drive which is stuck spinning endlessly. Reboot. If I resume that movie, it'll freeze again in usually 5 - 20 minutes. It's very frustrating because the solution is to hook my computer up to the TV, because I know my computer will play it flawlessly. But I shouldn't have to do that.. the format is listed as supported on the box.

I do suspect that may be a difference between models ending with "01" and "00"(revision "01" and "00").
Kindly awaiting your assistance. If you could please indicate the model number (regarding the revisions: "00" or "01") in your responds. I will certainly appreciate it.

I have experience similar issue like this, device suddenly stopped during movie playback.
I'm not sure if it is file type-specific, but so far I've been experience with 1080p files.
As storage device i'm using WD my book essential 2Tb (USB 3.0) attached on rear usb, very ironic since those device are from the same brand..
. Really, really dissapointed about this, I hope WD side figure out the solution regarding this issue and release their improvement F/W.

I have the exact same problem. My SMP P/N is: WDBGXT0000NBK-01 and it is connected thru wired 100Mbps home network with a shared network drive (PC, Sata 3 HDD, 2TB WD Green). Every 1080p with around 30 Mbps bit rate freezes. This is unacceptable!
