Currently we have no plan to add this browse view. I believe there are some great themes out there that supports this.

Request for mediaset play premium application

Status: New
by ‎03-16-2013 02:14 AM - edited ‎03-16-2013 03:22 AM

Hi i would suggest the application mediaset play premium http://play.mediasetpremium.it/.   for the western digital live smp 3°Gen.

This device is the most popular in italy and this application and their service are very nice, but the other service provided (such as the other video application  are useless for italian user, only youtube is a valuable content...)

Thanks for your attention

Rewind in WD is slow. Should be an option 30, 60 and 90 second skip on remote control.

I think if hovering over a folder in this view, then the folder.jpg should be displayed on the right hand side of the screen

change video display ratio

Hi,

the way we can zoom and pan when video are displayed is great. But one key feature is mising to be able to change the video playing ratio. it would be great to be able to select to play the video in real size, in full screen, in fit-to-screen or full screen with original ratio (the same way you can select the display format with windows media center). Most of the movie are in a different ratio than 16:9 and when the wd live streaming play them, it adds black area on top and bottom. If we zoom, we lose part of the image on the right and left. Changing the ratio should modify the video display but it could extend the video size to its maximum and fully cover the screen.

thanks

Hi, can you help clarify why the aspect ratio setting in Audio/Video output is not good enough?

Problem:

When the player downloads content descriptions from themoviedb.org and thetvdb.com, covers very often do not match language of the content description. This is because the script simply downloads the cover with the highest rating.

This is anything but ideal because it literally results in some kind of 'rating war' on both databases were people try to uprate covers in their desired language while rating down others. Me and a lot of other users, who constantly try to administer content on both databases, noticed this behaviour over the past couple of month. (Of course we know that these databases are used by many more than just WDTV customers :smileywink:)

Therefore we consider this a bug or programming oversight and not a 'feature request'. It should be obvious that most people want to see covers matching the desired language in the their media libraries instead of covers in some language they don't even recognize. No offence, of course.

Suggestion:

Like with movie/TV show descriptions the content scraper should FIRST try to get the highest rated cover matching the language of the description (there is a reason why both databases support language flags for covers!) Only if this fails and there is no cover in the database matching the desired language, the player should 'fall back' and download the overall highest rated cover.

Add E-Reader and Comic Reader

Status: New
by a month ago

I have two WD TV Lives one is connected to my Slingbox as a source for streaming all of my media no matter where I may be at and the other is used to connect to my Epson projector which I use out in our backyard. I would love to see you add support for ebooks a reader that would support mobi or epub perhaps you could get something going on with Kindle but a generic reader would also be fine with me. I would also like to see a comic book reader/viewer that supports both cbr and cbz files. Thanks for listening

It would be nice to be able to have the clock appear when I display the progress bar using the OK button while playing media.

Separate Theme Topic

Would it be possible to get a separate theme topic like the hub forum has? I have a feeling a lot of others would like to start creating new themes and the input and help would be great! At this time our theme topics get lost within the other get topics within the main forum topic!

An open App platform

Status: New
by on ‎04-26-2012 04:22 PM

Hi,

I'd personally like to see in the services section an "app" platform, much like the roku, where developers can build their own apps and share them with the community, and you can pick whichever you like and have them on an apps dashboard.  It's the way forward.

Ability to either combine folders in Media Library or have two separate Libraries

Status: New
by ‎11-02-2012 05:04 PM - edited ‎11-02-2012 05:06 PM

There needs to be a better system in place for those of us who have both our movie collections and our TV shows (across multiple HDDs).

We need to be able to combine folders in our Media Library, or be able to have a seperate Media Library just for TV.

An example as to why it doesn't work right now is, the only way to have your movies alphabeticalized across multiple hard drives is the Folder->All view. You can see how this would be a problem if you had over 500 TV shows in the "01 - Episode Title" format.

Right now the only solution seems to be to either

A) Buy another WDTV just for TV shows
B) Reformat all my drives and raid them

A) isn't happening because I'd rather buy a more expensive player than have to buy another one. And B) isn't happening because I don't have an extra 15TB hanging around to transfer everything over.

Anyway, hopefully you guys do something to update your firmware for this.

Going to be looking at what Popcorn Hour has to offer in the meantime.

Support for Dutch Uitzending Gemist

In the Netherlands a lot of people use Uitzending Gemist, which is the ability to watch back TV shows that aired on the 3 Dutch public broadcasting channels (Nederland 1, 2 and 3). They have an API here.

Please build in support for this.

Compiling Media Library % Complete

I'm not sure how possible this is, but I would love to see some kind of progress percentage when the media player is compiling the media library. Thanks for considering this.

We understand the issue, but to add this feature, it will make the scan process slower due to the total count.

XBMC / PLEX for WD TV

Status: New
by on ‎01-14-2013 09:29 AM

I have a WD TV Live Streaming Media Player and I am in a love/hate relationship with it. After a few months owning it, I keep going back to my laptop and use the XBMC to run my media files and stream shows and what  not from the internet and everytime I keep asking myself this:

Why is WD reinventing the wheel? The hardware is awesome. Small form factor and quiet (no fan). But the WD software **bleep** and it's going to **bleep** for a long time... no matter how much the company invest in programming and developing their app. Why? because WD is NOT a software focused company. It makes hardware. Good hardware actually.

Why not make these WD TV boxes open source so they can run anything... XBMC or PLEX nattily as their main OS. These two media player applications have been around for a long time now and they are simply AMAZING! They have features that WD will never have. They are way ahead of game and they are already being used by many many people all over the world.

People are still paying $300 or more to buy Apple TV 1st and 2nd Generation so that they can jailbreak them and run XBMC on them! Duh... why not make a device that is already open source and jailbroken and take advantage of this big market??? It totally makes sense. WIN WIN situation for both the manufacturer and the consumer.

Now I know that my WD TV Live Streaming can also support USB TV Tuner! Guess what? XBMC 12 that is coming soon has the PVR function built-in to it already!!! Subscription-free DVR anyone?

Let's make it happen WD.

Thanks,

Hello,

Loving the the new WDTV 2011 model.  Plays everything...

But one feature I noticed that is absence is the skip forward and back via the left and right arrows on the remote.  I had this option on the AC Ryan's...

Please advise if this as well as external DVD drive support is due soon...Huh

Thanks.
