Allow modding!!!

Status: New
by on ‎12-15-2011 08:27 AM

You really should allow modified content just like the other two have, people love the ability to show off there new tech even more so if they can modify it a little and make it ultra cool! As it stands your Hub version and the WDLiveTv gen 1/2 are the only ones that allow this if i had known that when i was ordering 3 gen 3's i would of got the earlier models!

Themes are good, but custom movie sheets and less firmware limitation is better why is some the old stuff ALWAYS better thanthen new stuff!!?!

Please change the format of the TV Shows naming from S1E1 to S01E01 because without leading 0 thr file ordering by name fails because the episode 2 appears after episode 19 and not after episode 1.

Currently we have no plan to add this browse view. I believe there are some great themes out there that supports this.

change video display ratio

Hi,

the way we can zoom and pan when video are displayed is great. But one key feature is mising to be able to change the video playing ratio. it would be great to be able to select to play the video in real size, in full screen, in fit-to-screen or full screen with original ratio (the same way you can select the display format with windows media center). Most of the movie are in a different ratio than 16:9 and when the wd live streaming play them, it adds black area on top and bottom. If we zoom, we lose part of the image on the right and left. Changing the ratio should modify the video display but it could extend the video size to its maximum and fully cover the screen.

thanks

Hi, can you help clarify why the aspect ratio setting in Audio/Video output is not good enough?

Skip rewind

Rewind in WD is slow. Should be an option 30, 60 and 90 second skip on remote control.

is it possible to add a webbrowser. So we can surf to where ever we want.

Status: Unplanned
Unfortunately, this platform cannot support a open browser for regular surfing.

DTS-MA

Status: Unplanned
by on ‎10-07-2011 11:27 AM

Please Please Please can you add DTS-MA passthrough to your new WDTV Live device/s, this would be an awesome feature for people who have decent amps so they can enjoy loseless audio.

Status: Unplanned
Unfortunately, this is still prohibited by the DTS licensing group.

I think if hovering over a folder in this view, then the folder.jpg should be displayed on the right hand side of the screen

I have now purchased 3x WD TV Live Streaming Media Players (WDTVLSMP) for family & friends. Without exception, all express their concern about the current non-standard method of WDTVLSMP switch-off compared to other household consumer devices such as TV’s, DVD’s & BluRay players etc.  They cannot get used to the WD remote control requirement to ‘press & hold’ POWER key for five seconds to turn off the WDTVLSMP. More times than not, they forget about ‘press & hold’….

I propose the following solution; add a remote control POWER setting to the Setup > Operation menu where a single short press (current suspend function) of remote control POWER key can be defined as follows:

- Active Standby   (Suspends the device into sleep mode & turns off the video output)
- Off                      (Media Player AND connected USB HDD shutdown)

Out-of-box factory default should be ‘Off’

Unfortunately, this is a security requirement to support some of the premium online services. If user would like to install modified firmware, these premium online services will not function properly.

Delete section "Live TV" from the main screen, and move it into the category of "Services".

Support for Dutch Uitzending Gemist

Status: Acknowledged
by on ‎01-18-2012 03:19 AM

In the Netherlands a lot of people use Uitzending Gemist, which is the ability to watch back TV shows that aired on the 3 Dutch public broadcasting channels (Nederland 1, 2 and 3). They have an API here.

Please build in support for this.

Compiling Media Library % Complete

I'm not sure how possible this is, but I would love to see some kind of progress percentage when the media player is compiling the media library. Thanks for considering this.

We understand the issue, but to add this feature, it will make the scan process slower due to the total count.

Media scraping support for NAS devices

Status: Implemented
by on ‎10-07-2011 07:25 AM

It would be great if we could scape content on NAS devices and have it all in one central place.  The manual for this thing makes it sound like this should be working but it does not.

Status: Implemented
This is already supported since the 1.04.12 firmware • Supports media library function for network share folders

Video time skip feature

Status: New
by on ‎06-29-2012 11:25 PM

When watching movies locally/network it would be nice to be able to skip backwards/forwards instantly. My Samsung TV has this feature and they implemented it by skipping 10 seconds backwards or forwards when pressing the left or right arrows respectively. Currently the arrow buttons don’t seem to have any existing functionality when watching something so it seems like they are available. So if you could please consider a 10 second (configurable?) skip.

Thanks!

Amazon Instant Video and VUDU

I think adding these two services would put this box on alot more peoples radar and in turn sell you many more units:smileywink:

Status: Implemented
Vudu is already supported in FW 1.05.18. Amazon has no plan for WD TV at the moment.

I would like to see a capability, that if a specific file is present in a folder, that the WD will *NOT* attempt to scrape content info for it.

If I could just put a file in that folder with a name like "noindex"  then that'd be the clue to the WD to *not* attempt to scrape the metadata for any file in that folder, or any subfolders of that folder.

For example, I have a folder dedicated to home movies, and the WD insists on scraping metadata for it, often with disastrous or hilarious results.

Such as my file "1998 Carribean Cruise.mpg"  got scraped as "1998 Superbowl" or something like that, with a football helmet as the thumbnail.  :smileyhappy:

I don't have the time to generate 500 custom XML files for all these files.

Hello,

Loving the the new WDTV 2011 model.  Plays everything...

But one feature I noticed that is absence is the skip forward and back via the left and right arrows on the remote.  I had this option on the AC Ryan's...

Please advise if this as well as external DVD drive support is due soon...Huh

Thanks.

An open App platform

Status: New
by on ‎04-26-2012 04:22 PM

Hi,

I'd personally like to see in the services section an "app" platform, much like the roku, where developers can build their own apps and share them with the community, and you can pick whichever you like and have them on an apps dashboard.  It's the way forward.

Run custom theme from thumbdrive

Status: New
by on ‎11-09-2012 04:54 PM

please consider a menu configuration option to run a custom theme from an attached thumbdrive

the configuration option can be as simple as USB1 or USB2

then users could load theme's on the SMP the same way it's done on the HUB and would not be limited to the 30MB limit that can currently be uploaded to the SMP

even the default Mochi theme was 35MB, which is more than what can be uploaded to the SMP

the result is currently all custom themes, must be trimmed down, this restricts what can be done

I suggest remove the limitation, by allowing custom theme's to be loaded from a thumbdrive
